So You Think Favourite For 2010 Cox Plate

It’s that time of year again as horse racing fans and punters around Australia get ready for the big spring racing features of the year, and the anticipation has been added to with the release of early market odds.

Leading online bookmaker SportsBet has the 2010 Cox Plate odds available with lucrative early markets already drawing plenty of attention from bettors.

Defending Cox Plate champion So You Think is leading the way at $11 to retain the title.

The Bart Cummings aspirant’s last jump was the 2009 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington, where he finished second to All American after defeating the classy 13-horse field in the 2009 Cox Plate.

The High Chaparral gelding was one of last spring’s stars and looks set to dominate once more with nominations for three of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival’s esteemed events.

So You Think is likely to jump first-up in the $200,000 Group Two JJ Liston Stakes (1400m) at Melbourne’s Caulfield Racecourse on the 14th of August.

Champion trainer Cummings has nominated the powerhouse horse for the 2010 Caulfield Cup and the 2010 Melbourne Cup.

Shoot Out is on target for a strong run if he makes the 2010 Cox Plate final field, and is starting at $13 for the jump.

Trained by John Wallace the fellow High Chaparral gelding has started his spring campaign well, with a first-up win in the $125,000 Group Three Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield last month.

Other worthwhile punts would be on the AJC Australian Oaks runner up Faint Perfume at $15, with Predatory Pricer and Typhoon Tracy both at $17.

Remember the odds will not get any more rewarding than they are now at SportsBet, so make sure to take advantage while you can. The closer we get to the race, the shorter the odds will get.

The 2010 Cox Plate is scheduled to jump on October 23 at Moonee Valley Racecourse with prize money of $3 million.
