Metal Bender Leads Waller Trifecta In The 2010 Warwick Stakes

Warwick Farm Racecourse’s highlight of the year – the Group Two Warwick Stakes (1400m) – didn’t disappoint as the stunning Metal Bender led home a Chris Waller trifecta.

The multiple Group One winner backed up a stunning effort at the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival in his first up jump on Saturday at the 2010 Warwick Stakes.

Tim Clark took the hot seat and guided the Sanasinga gelding perfectly through to the win after fighting off a last dash effort from stablemate Triple Honour, which finished in second.

Metal Bender claimed a short neck victory from Triple Honour; with the pre race favourite Danleigh finishing another three-quarters of a length back in third.

The five-year-old 2010 Warwick Stakes winner is a victor of the Group One Randwick Guineas (1600m) and the Group One Rosehill Guineas (2000m), and is likely to back up this win with a jump in the $150,000 Group Two Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) on September 4.

The 2010 Warwick Stakes victory raises the smart gelding’s tally to eight wins from 14 career starts, and has accumulated over $1.4 million in prizemoney.

The stunning victory on Saturday has certainly seen Metal Bender recognised as a strong contender for the rest of the spring, with the 2010 Cox Plate the ultimate goal.

Clark, who had a superb day of racing on Saturday, believes Metal bender will improve over the spring as the distances increase – so make sure to bookmark us here at Horseraces.com.au to follow his campaign.

Also taking place alongside the 2010 Warwick Stakes was the Group Three Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) which saw Clark guide Parables to a win, and the Group Three Up And Coming Stakes (1200m) where impressive filly Blackball claimed the honours.
