This Saturday the $1 million Group One Golden Rose (1400m) will headline the Spring Carnival action taking to Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
Scheduled to jump just before 4pm, the 2010 Golden Rose will see 15 three-year-olds compete, and it’s certainly lining up to be a thriller.
Runner up in the $125,000 Group Three Run To The Rose (1300m) Masquerader has drawn perfectly in barrier two. The three-year-old colt ran beautifully in the Run To The Rose, and will look for revenge on the winner – Squamosa.
Squamosa has drawn wide with barrier 14, but despite the disadvantage, will certainly be a strong contender.
The 2010 Golden Rose will present the Gai Waterhouse-trained colt with his biggest challenge yet – to extend his unbeaten record to four wins, against a quality field.
Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily has also drawn wide with barrier 10. The autumn carnival champion has already accumulated more than $2.3 million in prizemoney over her eight-start career, and will be a strong runner on Saturday afternoon.
Toorak Toff will return to quality racing in the 2010 Golden Rose. The colt is a favourite among horseracing enthusiasts and will look to add to his previous four wins from barrier nine.
Other notable runners to start in the 2010 Golden Rose are the Clarry Conners-trained Decision Time, Chance Bye in barrier three, Gerald Ryan’s Hinchinbrook and Quezette Stakes winner Panipique.
Also taking place this Saturday alongside the 2010 Golden Rose will be the $125,000 Group Three Concorde Stakes (1100m) and six other thrilling races.
