2010 Yalumba Stakes Nominations

The 2010 Yalumba Stakes nominations were announced yesterday and a potential field of 11 quality runners have stepped forward for the Group 1 challenge.

More Joyous is looking fit to give So You Think a run for the money if she contests the 2010 Yalumba Stakes.

Plenty of punters and racing fans will be eagerly awaiting the final field announcement for this Caulfield Group 1 feature as it could see two top competitors going up against one another a bit sooner than many had anticipated. Both the Gai Waterhouse-trained More Joyous and the Bart Cummings-trained So You Think have been nominated for this race.

Cummings’s So You Think is leading in the handicapper rating thanks to a couple of very impressive Group 1 performances. This includes the Memsie Stakes (1400m) in which the four-year-old horse outran fellow Yalumba Stakes nominee Whobegotyou.

On the other hand, Waterhouse’s More Joyous is searching out her fourth consecutive win after a trio of first place finishes. She is looking fit to give So You Think a run for the money if she contests the 2010 Yalumba Stakes.

Other notable runners to keep your eye on include Cummings’s other two nominations Empires Choice and Precedence. Red Ruler, Master O’Rielly, and Alcopop are also top contenders that have been nominated for this $400,000 feature.

The 2010 Yalumba Stakes are set to jump this Saturday, October 9 at Caulfield Racecourse. It will be one of three Group 1 events, including the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and the Toorak Handicap (1600m). Keep checking back for all of the latest updates on the Group 1 race, including the final field announcement and a full preview.
