Atomic Force Draws Ideal Barrier For 2012 Telegraph Handicap

Atomic Force has come up trumps after the barrier draw was conducted for the Group 1 Telegraph Handicap in New Zealand this Saturday January 21, 2011.

The six-year-old gelding drew barrier four for the race, which will put him in the perfect position to produce back to back New Zealand victories.

Atomic Force won his last start in the Group 1 Railway Stakes at Ellerslie Racecourse on January 1, 2012.

2012 Telegraph Handicap jockey Nash Rawiller is confident Atomic Force can win the race from his ideal barrier position.

“He should get a nice run there on Saturday now,” Rawiller said.

“Sometimes the speed is from the outside and you think you’re getting into a good spot and next minute you can be in an awkward spot.

“I don’t know if it’s a huge advantage but I’m certainly drawn to give him his chance to carry the weight and win.”

Rawiller believes Atomic Force is well suited to New Zealand racing.

“He put the writing on the wall the other day (in the Railway) that he’s in exceptional form and he’s obviously done well over there,” Rawiller said.

“While they’re happy and nice and settled in the surroundings, why wouldn’t you wait around for this and have another throw at the stumps?

“We’re very confident the horse will fly the flag again for us.”
