The 2012 Blue Diamond Preview for colts and geldings will race on Australia Day this Thursday January 26th at Caulfield Racecourse.

It’s the first big event of the year in Melbourne and along with the fillies event there’s also another two Listed races.

Each of them is worth $100,000 but the Blue Diamond Preview has bigger ramifications than just the prize money at the end of the day.

In the colts and geldings preview a final field of 11 have been accepted for, a bit short of the 16 horse capacity.

These horses are all fighting for a path through to the main event Blue Diamond Stakes in a month’s time.

Four of the runners this Thursday will be first starters while the other seven have starts to their credit.

The worst result any of them have recorded is a fourth placing as well so there’s a fair bit of quality on offer for punters to choose from

Cambiaso is the top weight with 57.5kg, a kilo and a half more than any other runner.

In fact it’s only Repousser on 56kg that’s carrying more than the 55kg bottom weight.
