The 2012 Australia Stakes form guide is like any other that involves Black Caviar, she’s the winner so fight for second place.
Some punters are disagreeing, the current poll on horseracing.com.au showing at least a few people are prepared to lay the unbeaten champion in favour of one of her rivals.
So let’s have a closer look at just what horses she’s facing tonight at Moonee Valley.
In another stoke of fortune for Peter Moody and the team Impulsive Fortune has been scratched from the event.
The country horse was never expected to challenge Black Caviar but from barrier two she would of been directly alongside.
This means that once again she’ll have a free gate to her outside and it probably releases any danger of her being boxed on the fence.
That leaves just five rivals then in the 2012 Australia Stakes so let’s take a look at the form guide and just see how they stack up.

2012 Australia Stakes Form Guide
Doubtful Jack
Nine wins from 25 starts and a second placing behind Black Caviar in the Group 2 Schweppes Stakes last year. He’s here from the Moody camp to ensure she gets a clean run and he’ll be in the box seat to pick up second spot.
Rock Classic
Three wins and two seconds from eight starts for this exciting up and comer from the Cummings camp. Very lightly raced five year old and winner of the 2010 Group 1 Crown Guineas. Hasn’t raced since August 2010 so how he goes will be the second biggest story of this race.
Zedi Knight
Seven year old gelding with 11 wins from his 36 starts with eight of them over this trip. He’s actually never missed a placing over this track and distance with four victories from seven goes. Disappointing last start in the Standish Handicap but a place chance at the Valley.
Sound Journey
Seven wins from this stallions 28 starts including the Group 2 Crystal Mile in 2010. He’s first up since May last year and like Rock Classic it will be all about him getting through this in one piece and hopefully hitting the line strong over the closing stages.
Hollowlea
Four year old gelding that started life with a bang but hasn’t done anything for over a year with four wins from 16 starts. In fact at his last four starts he’s finished no better than 10th so to have any sort of impact here he needs a major form turnaround.
Black Caviar
The winner of 16 from 16 and the Australia Stakes is soon to be added to that tally, we all know how good she is and given the likes of Hay List, Karuta Queen and Buffering have all run second to her nothing going to challenge tonight.
