Horse racing in Australia is epitomised by several superb carnivals which span over the course of the season. An opportunity for the sport to truly be recognised from afar, racing carnivals offer frivolous fun for the avid horse racing fan and punter alike.

Dominated by the world-famous Melbourne Cup Carnival, which is of course highlighted by the $6 million Melbourne Cup itself, the carnival season in Australia attracts not only the best horses from around the country but also the world. Spring is the most popular time of year, with action predominantly taking place in Sydney and Melbourne, although the Autumn counterparts are just as popular.

During the winter there is the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival which is headlined by the superb Stradbroke Handicap and is spread between the Doomben Racecourse and Eagle Farm. Filling the gap after the spring racing in Melbourne is the Perth Racing Carnival, with the Adelaide counterpart another feature.
