Race Tracks

With horse racing such an integral part of the Australian sporting life, the country is home to many world renowned race tracks which offer the best in facilities, training and of course racing around the globe.

There are over 360 race tracks around Australia, some owned by metropolitan clubs, some provincial, and some deep in the country – but all draw the best in Australian horse racing talent. The metropolitan tracks in each state and territory traditionally host the more prolific races, carnivals and events, which often attract international interest due to the magnitude of the races.

Those in capital cities such as Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are widely regarded as the most respected, and as the host of the Melbourne Cup – Australia’s most renowned horse race, Victoria’s Flemington Racecourse is the track most known overseas. Other highly regarded race tracks in Melbourne are the Caulfield Racecourse and the Moonee Valley Racecourse, both of which host a large number of Black Listed races throughout the course of the season.

Sydney’s most illustrious courses are the Royal Randwick Racecourse and the Rosehill Gardens track; both of which play a major part in Spring and Autumn racing in Australia. While Queensland is granted the Winter action, with the Eagle Farm and Doomben Racecourses hosting the main events.
